On 24th March Karren (our Business Manager) and myself had the opportunity to attend ACEVOFest in Wembley. ACEVOFest is a festival of ideas, support and inspiration for charity CEO’s and aspiring CEO’s, where honest and open sharing allows for creation of a greater understanding of our roles in civil society.
We had the opportunity to talk with exhibitors about supporting each other and collaborating to make the charity sector a stronger and better place for everyone and one where we can grow and develop.
The key speakers throughout the day were inspirational but also honest about the challenges facing the charity sector and how we can collectively encourage each other.
We are storytellers, ensuring that the voices of those we support are heard and celebrated. In recognition of that we identified that “we” need to be in the room where it happens or have trust that those in the room are raising all of our voices. We need collective courage within the charity community to face and challenge the current global issues which have an impact on civil society and more directly the people we work with.
These conversations raised the issues of how we show up for others when things feel uncertain and safeguard our own wellbeing too? How do we give ourselves the space to breath to ensure we are providing the quality service we aspire to give?
Fundamentally it reinforced that we must always keep our values front and centre, raise our voices and share together our enthusiasm for a fair and equitable society.
