This May, Sussex Pathways said a heartfelt goodbye to one of our founding directors, Pauline Prior, who stepped down from the Board after a remarkable 17 years of service. Pauline has been at the heart of Sussex Pathways since its very beginning in 2008—and her legacy will continue to shape our work for years to come.
Back then, Sussex Pathways was funded by a single £1,000 grant from Sussex Police and all our work was carried out by volunteers. That early reliance on volunteers shaped who we are today; we continue to place enormous value on the contribution of our volunteers.
Pauline’s contribution over her 17 years of service has been extraordinary – mentoring more people than she can count, interviewing hundreds of potential volunteers and sorting out all the issues that needed her wonderful combination of competence and patience from changing banks to sorting out insurance.
We held a farewell lunch for Pauline with Board members past and present. Although she’s stepping away from the Board, Pauline won’t be disappearing from the work she loves. She continues to volunteer with the prison chaplaincy team, and she also volunteers at her local school—supporting children navigating difficult life circumstances.
We shall miss her very much and wish her all the best for the future.

I like medical blogs because I want to understand better what future of therapy might look like. One day I checked https://ways2well.com/blog/stem-cell-therapy-for-prescription-drug-stimulant-nicotine-addiction-a-new-hope and it was interesting. They describe the science behind stem cells, and how it might be used to fight addiction. They also mention opportunities and options, like possible offers of personalized medicine. I liked it because it was not boring medical text, it felt more like good explanation.
