Sussex Pathways, courtesy of HMP Lewes, had its first Celebration event in the prison. The charity is enormously grateful to all at HMP Lewes who made this successful evening possible. It was wonderful to see so many people from partner agencies and charities present together with many of our mentors, all of whom were able to sample the delicious cocktails and canapés provided and served by a team from the prison. It was a privilege to listen to our Guest Speakers: Robin Eldridge, Governor of HMP Lewes, Superintendent Russ Whitfield of the CJD Department Sussex Police, Leighe Rogers Director of Surrey & Sussex Probation Trust as well as our two Patrons, The Right Rev’d Kieran Conry and The Right Rev’d Wallace Benn. Everyone was moved by the talk given by one of our mentees who is currently in HMP Lewes as he outlined the common obstacles to reform.
