Volunteer Administration Assistant – Role Description
Sussex Pathways is a multi-faith volunteer mentoring project, our main objectives are:
To reduce the risk of re-offending for people being released from prisons and to support resettlement and reintegration back into the community.
To facilitate, encourage and support offenders to engage with specialist agencies in the community, to address and overcome underlying problems & work towards rehabilitation.
Sussex Pathways engages with offenders matching them with a volunteer drawn from the local community and trained to deliver social mentoring services, for up to 6 weeks pre-release and continues for up to 6 months post release back into the community.
We have ambitious plans to develop our services throughout Sussex and are considering neighbouring areas and require assistance with our administration. This role will include assisting the project manager in the day-to-day running and coordination of the organisation such as responding to email/telephone enquiries, helping to arrange meetings and assisting with collating data for regular reporting periods. In addition to this, the post holder would also provide some assistance and support to the volunteer coordinators who work directly with volunteers and Sussex Pathways ‘mentees’.
This voluntary position could suit one person, 3-4 mornings/afternoons per week or could be split into different areas of responsibility and shared with more than one person.
This voluntary post will be based in our Brighton office and Sussex Pathways would require a six month commitment for this post. It will be necessary for the post holder to be a self-starter, take direction from the Project Manager and to liaise with the Sussex Pathways staff team in order undertake this role.
